“No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other’s worth.”
-Robert Southey
We all know how complicated long-distance friendships are, and most likely doomed. Life gets busy for everyone. And as you move along, you'll learn that you won't be able to stay in touch with everyone that you'd want to.
You have friendships that will eventually fade away; some will leave without any trace. Long-distance friendships need efforts, love, and all the support. It really depends on the person and the situation.
While the pandemic has been fatal for a lot of long-distance friendships, (some found themselves closer too). There are ways to make your long-distance friendship work in this whole situation too!!!
Here are some points for what you can do when you miss your best friend who's far away from you:
Communication: Check on them regularly, send them texts, ask them about their lives, their schedule. Let your friend know that you'll always be there for them, even if you're not physically there.
Encourage each other: Support your friend, emotionally, and physically.
Virtual plans: We know how this pandemic is not giving you chances to go out, meet each other, hang out together. BUT, you know, virtual plans are now kind of trendy; make food together, get dressed, watch a movie online and have your plans virtually (together).
Send small notes/gifts: Make them feel special, send them something they're fond of, or just a little love note as a reminder that they are special.
Start something together: You can always find a new hobby and start it together. It's fun that way too.
We understand how having a secure relationship with your best friend is a blessing. And in that way, let us remind you that it is as selfless as any kind of love when you find your true friendship. And we are all in for it.
